Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season that wasn’t too overwhelming. I, personally, love the holidays and always feel a bit sad when they’re over. Taking down all of the bright, cheerful, pretty decorations and being left with dark, January nights… well, frankly, it bums me out. But I’m trying to focus on other things, such as attending blogger workshops and summits to see if I can perk myself up by learning some new information and (hopefully) growing The Hall of Style. I’m always a huge fan of learning new things!
In cheerier news, today I’m featuring perfumes that remind me of being wrapped in a soothing cashmere sweater. These perfumes feature warm, cozy notes such as cashmeran, tonka, vanilla, caramel, and sandalwood and are perfect for the colder, darker months. They have a sophisticated touch without being too stuffy. And I think they make great ‘bed scents:’ a term used to refer to fragrances that are perfect to wear to to bed, as they make you feel relaxed and comforted.
Though a few of these selections are more luxury-priced, the vast majority of them are affordable bargains. Without further ado, here are my 15 favorite ‘Cashmere Sweater’ perfumes:
Penhaligon’s Changing Constance
- Top Notes: cardamom, pimento
- Middle Note: salted butter caramel
- Base Note: tobacco
- Other Notes Perceived: vanilla, cashmeran, musk
I’m starting my list with a couple of sophisticated and pricier fragrances from the classic British perfume house, Penhaligon’s. Both fragrances are from their lovely Portraits Collection and feature absolutely gorgeous bottles. First up is Changing Constance, a gorgeous, creamy, spicy caramel concoction that brings ALLLLL the cashmere sweater vibes. This beautiful, likable fragrance has been on my wish list for a couple of years and I’ve had to make do with a little sample in the meantime. The opening gives me a sparkling, spicy, ambery vibe with a tiny hint of musk. The longer it dries down, the delicious caramel comes out to play but it is not overly sweet, immature, or sugary. It’s warm, classy, and sophisticated.
This is a quieter fragrance that sits close to the skin and is definitely safe for office and close quarters. I wish the longevity was a bit better for the price, but I get a solid 3-4 hours wear before wanting to spray more of it on. It does leave this light but really delicious, sweet caramel impression on my skin for a long time. Full disclosure: this is a pricier fragrance that will be a special treat for most but holy wow, it is worth it. Not only does it smell amazing but that bottle… it’s just breathtakingly gorgeous! If the price is just out of the question for you (I completely understand), I definitely recommend trying a decant from Scent Split.

Penhaligon’s The Tragedy of Lord George
- Top Note: warm rum
- Middle Notes: tonka bean, shaving soap
- Base Note: ambroxan
- Other Notes Perceived: woodsy notes, brandy, amber
This dapper and dashing fragrance is the male counterpart to Changing Constance. It opens with a nice woodsy & tonka impression. It’s quite clean-feeling with the woods blending with the shaving soap. The rummy note is lightly there but it doesn’t smell overly boozy to me. I would say tonka is the star of the show here with all of the other notes playing their roles nicely. Though this is classified as a fougere/barbershop, it’s very wearable for both men and woman and doesn’t scream aftershave on my skin. Both my husband and I have tried it and though it’s a masculine-targeted fragrance, it definitely leans unisex enough for a woman to wear if she wanted to.
The performance is comparable to Changing Constance: definitely an intimate skin scent with lightly moderate longevity. Overall, a cozy, clean, woodsy, lightly boozy, allllmost-gourmandish tonka fragrance that’s well-suited for autumn/winter (though my husband first wore it on a mild April night and it smelled amazing!) Another gorgeous bottle, in fact, possibly my favorite perfume bottle ever.

Lalique Le Parfum
- Top Notes: bay leaf, bergamot, pink peppercorn
- Middle Notes: heliotrope, jasmine
- Base Notes: patchouli, sandalwood, tonka bean, vanilla
- Other Note Perceived: almond
This one has been a love of mine for a while now. I can’t say enough about how great Lalique’s fragrances are in general, and you guys will hear me say this over and over again but they’re SO underrated! This beauty opens with a citrusy, aromatic freshness from the bay leaf and bergamot. I also get the lovely spice from the pink peppercorn. As it dries down, I get the rich vanilla, cozy almond/heliotrope, and tonka impressions. I love how the top notes give it an aromatic freshness while the base notes give it a warm, cozy feel. I find this fragrance to be really unique and don’t have anything else quite exactly like it. It has a bit of that ‘Play-Doh’ accord that I like, that’s often created with vanilla, almond, & heliotrope combined.
The projection and longevity are both great. This beautiful fragrance, created by master perfumer Dominique Ropion, is VERY affordable, especially on the discounters’ sites. Another gorgeous bottle here, too, as Lalique is a fine French glassware and jewelry house. I find this fragrance to have similar vibes to Slow Dance by Byredo and Jazz Club from Maison Margiela’s Replica line. Spicy-sweet amber lovers should definitely try this one.

The 7 Virtues Santal Vanille
- Top Notes: coconut milk, cardamom, violet, myrrh absolute
- Middle Notes: olibanum, cedarwood, vanilla
- Base Notes: Kashmir fusion (features notes of cedarwood, patchouli and sandalwood, capturing a warm and woody amber silhouette with hints of sweetness, accords of soft autumn fruits and touches of spice), cocoa absolute, sandalwood
- Other Note Perceived: Indian pepper
Mmmm… what a gorgeous, airy, feminine sandalwood fragrance! I get the delicious coconut milk right away in the opening, quickly followed by a slightly-candied violet. The sweet, lightly powdery vanilla soon follows and pushes this to the slightly gourmandish side of things, though it’s definitely not overly sweet, in my opinion. Of course, sandalwood is the star here and it’s fresh, clean, and truly lovely.
This fragrance has a lighter projection which makes it a good choice for office-wear or for folks who prefer lighter scents. This lasts about 3-4 hours for me before becoming a faded, slightly woodsy skin scent. It’s also hypoallergenic, made with clean ingredients, vegan, and cruelty-free. If you like fragrances like Maison Crivelli’s Iris Malikhân and BDK’s Gris Charnel, I feel like this could be in your wheelhouse. It could also be classified to be in a similar ballpark with Le Labo’s Santal 33, though this is much sweeter and more feminine in feel. Perhaps, if your partner is wearing Santal 33, you could compliment their scent by wearing this. Read more of my reviews of The 7 Virtues fragrances here.

Solinotes Tonka
- Top Notes: baumé accord, mandarin blossom, petitgrain
- Middle Notes: vanilla, tonka beans, tolu balsam
- Base Notes: amber, musk, vanilla bean
- Other Notes Perceived: bitter almond, cherry
Solinotes is a newer French house that showcases one main note for each fragrance. This one, of course, focuses on cozy tonka bean and also boasts tons of almond and vanilla. It’s clean, warm, and slightly sweet. I get a lightly moderate projection and at least 2-3 hours of projection before it fades to a skin scent. Simple and lovely, a total winner in my book! If you love tonka bean as a note, this is a must-try.
This great and SUPER affordable fragrance can usually be found at Amazon and Target. This ‘cheapie’ has often been compared to WAAAAAAY pricier tonka-focused fragrances such as Fève Délicieuse from Dior’s La Collection Privée line (which, sadly, has been discontinued) and Guerlain’s Tonka Impériale from their L’Art & La Matière line. In fact, it’s actually surprisingly similar to Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry, believe it or not. The tonka and bitter almond notes in the two fragrances make them quite similar. If you’re a fan of Lost Cherry’s scent but not its ever-climbing high price tag, I HIGHLY recommend giving this one a try!

Kenzo Amour
- Top Notes: rice, white tea
- Middle Notes: cherry blossom, frangipani blossom,
- Base Notes: vanilla, incense, Thanaka wood (similar scent to sandalwood)
- Other Notes Perceived: heliotrope, musk
Yum, yum, yum! This is one of the most comforting fragrances I own and I loooooooove wearing this as a cozy bed scent! I get TONS of almondy heliotrope, vanilla, and cherry blossom. It also has that slight Play-doh vibe that I like and mentioned above. It’s almost like a powdery vanilla almond cookie with a slightly licorice-y impression. If you love the almondy vibes of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison, this would be a great one to try; it’s in a similar family but softer and more powdery.
The projection is great and I find this fragrance to be very long-lasting. When I spray it on to wear to bed, I can always seem to still detect it when I wake up the next morning. This award-winning fragrance was created by the team of master perfumer Olivier Cresp (sidenote: his Instagram is really fun to follow) and perfumer Daphné Bugey, who have both created a TON of top-selling fragrances, yet it is another affordable gem. Also, peep the unique, artsy bottle; so interesting!

Van Cleef & Arpels Santal Blanc
- Top Notes: fig nectar, mandarin orange
- Middle Notes: sandalwood, violet
- Base Notes: musk, tonka bean, benzoin
Another gorgeous sandalwood-violet combo, this one is fresh, clean, and simply beautiful. There’s delicious fig and mandarin notes and almost an almondy vibe from the tonka. This is one of those fragrances where I just can’t stop sniffing my arm when I’m wearing it! There’s something about the mix of the sandalwood, tonka, and fig that puts this in a similar family with Diptyque’s fig masterpiece, Philosykos, and the beloved (but unfortunately, discontinued) Guerlain Coconut Fizz for me.
This fragrance has a more intimate projection but I do get a whiff now and then from arm’s length, and the longevity is great. It’s another pricier option but well worth it, in my opinion, especially if you’ve been missing Coconut Fizz; I think this is a really great alternative.

Cacharel Amor Amor
- Top Notes: black currant, mandarin orange, grapefruit, cassia (sweet and spicy scent, similar to cinnamon), bergamot
- Middle Notes: rose, apricot, jasmine, lily, lily of the valley
- Base Notes: vanilla, tonka bean, musk, amber, Virginia cedar
This mellow and easygoing fragrance opens with tons of citrus, as the notes would suggest. I also get a lot of the fruity/slightly tart apricot. Overall, it’s a really fruity opening but as it dries down, I get the warm, cozy, clean, vanilla/tonka/cashmere vibes. Tonka really stands out as the star of the dry down show for me. It’s a gentle, pretty, likable fragrance that really shines when combined with your personal chemistry. Paper tester strips do not do this fragrance justice, it needs to actually be worn for the magic to happen.
The projection is somewhat intimate and the longevity is good. This is a good everyday scent; an affordable, safe and easy grab. It’s also another one of my favorite comforting bed scents. The tonka-heavy dry down reminds me a bit of Prada Candy Gloss (minus the cherry), which I am going to talk about next!

Prada Candy Gloss
- Top Notes: sour cherry, cassis
- Middle Notes: peach, rose, orange blossom
- Base Notes: vanilla, almond, benzoin, heliotrope, musk
I’ve talked about this one before on my Best Cherry Fragrances list but I wanted to mention it here, too, because it is SO cozy! I just love this one for a bed scent. The initial blast is a very sour cherry, followed by an even yummier maraschino cherry/almond combo. I also get tons of my beloved heliotrope and vanilla. There’s definitely a ‘Cherry ChapStick‘ vibe happening here and I’m not mad about it!
This EDT is a mild, lighter scent that lasts about 3 or so hours for me. Definitely my favorite of the Prada Candy line, it features many of my favorite notes and is super affordable. This one is a winner for me!

Escada Celebrate N.O.W.
- Top Note: ginger
- Middle Note: magnolia
- Base Notes: vanilla, tonka bean, cinnamon
This is immediately yummy and sweet. It opens with a sparkling ginger that reminds me a lot of fizzy ginger ale. As it dries down, I get kind of a sweet, almondy vibe from the tonka-vanilla combo. It’s a bit like almondy candy dusted with vanilla powdered sugar. There’s a nice little zing from the ginger and cinnamon, the spices here match really nicely with the sweet vanilla. I also sense the beautiful magnolia, one of my favorite floral notes. The longer the fragrance dries down, the more it reminds me of the aforementioned Amor Amor, with a woodsy/tonka/cashmeran vibe coming to the forefront. It finishes as a clean, mellow, pleasant skin scent.
I have read other reviews that complained of poor performance but that honestly wasn’t my experience with this perfume. Both the projection and longevity were decent. I got about 3 hours worth of wear before it really faded into a lighter skin scent. For the reasonable price point, I was happy with this fragrance and thought it was a decent value. The bottle is cute, too!

Jimmy Choo Fever
- Top Notes: plum, litchi, grapefruit
- Middle Notes: heliotrope, vanilla orchid, jasmine, orange blossom
- Base Notes: tonka bean, vanilla, benzoin, coffee, hazelnut, sandalwood
At first spray, this sweet, young, playful fragrance instantly makes me think of sugar plum fairy dust! It’s very sweet, fruity, and brings to mind sugary purple candy. I also get a lot of the yummy hazelnut, vanilla, and tonka as it dries down. It’s buttery toffee/praline/hazelnut latte heaven, yum! It’s ever so slightly reminiscent of Dolce & Gabbana’s The Only One and YSL’s Black Opium with the latte vibes but a bit lighter than both. The buttery toffee vibe might also bring to mind Viktor & Rolf’s caramel candy bomb, BonBon. The more it dries down, the tonka really takes over as the star of the show, with the woodsy sandalwood joining in.
The projection and longevity are both pretty moderate. I love that this fragrance was created by two of my favorite master perfumers, Nathalie Lorson and Honorine Blanc. I also love that this reasonably-priced perfume is yet another bargain! It feels like the perfect ‘going out for drinks with the girls’ kind of fragrance with its young, fun vibe. Though it’s so warm and cozy, it’s also another favorite bed scent for me. This yummy-scented fragrance is a truly a sweet gourmand lovers dream!

Lolita Lempicka Lolitaland
- Top Notes: Bellini (fantasy note, named for the cocktail, which has a peachy, sparkling effect in perfume compositions), Timut pepper (a Nepali spice related to sichuan pepper, it has a bright, zingy, grapefruit-like, citrus aroma), Italian mandarin essence
- Middle Notes: jasmine sambac absolute, jasmine petals, white peach
- Base Notes: white musk, Madagascar vanilla
- Other Notes Perceived: grapefruit, lemon, lime, plum, black currant, magnolia, rose, licorice, benzoin, sandalwood
YUM, OH YUM!! I literally refer to this fragrance as ‘Caramel Caramel Yum Yum’ in my household 🤣 It gives me caramel candy vibes plus powdery citrus-vanilla sugar plus the tiniest hint of licorice/anise topped off with a peppery feel. Those peachy notes mixed with the rich bourbon vanilla and warm, ambery benzoin creates a delicious caramelized accord that’s just so good. I would describe this fragrance as “Lira & BonBon had a lovechild and sprinkled some pepper over the top of it,” lol! This perfume was a ‘love at first sniff’ for me!
I find it really cool that superstar nose Francis Kurkdjian (of Baccarat Rouge 540 fame) was involved in creating this, along with Maïa Lernout (best known for her bright, floral fragrances). And the mastery shows, not only does it smell heavenly, it has great quality in both projection and longevity. I get a lovely scent bubble of fresh caramel candy around me all day as I wear it. This is also yet another very affordable fragrance and it has THE most adorable bottle, I mean, just look at that lid with the deer! Could it possibly be any cuter?? Bottom line: if you’re a fan of sweet, caramely, powdery sugar fragrances like Xerjoff’s Lira, you’ll definitely want to give this one a sniff!

Clinique My Happy Cocoa & Cashmere
- Notes: cocoa, vanilla, golden amber, musks, pink pepper, jasmine, honeysuckle, solar salicylates
With this fragrance, I immediately get the soft, powdery cashmere along with some vanilla. It has a very ‘clean musk’ feel that reminds me of the clean linen vibe that you’ll sometimes get from a white musk. There’s definitely some amber and jasmine present as well. I wouldn’t say this is super chocolatey or cocoa-like, it’s really more focused on the soft cashmere vibes. It’s super cozy, though, and definitely would be perfectly paired with a sleek and warm cashmere sweater.
The projection is definitely on the lighter side but not invisible. I get about 3 hours wear before I feel inclined to apply more. I think this fragrance would pair perfectly with Bath & Body Works’ Snowflakes & Cashmere body products. You could layer this perfume with their shower gel and/or lotion to give it all a little more oomph and really keep that lovely, clean, cashmere scent bubble around you all day.

Calvin Klein Reveal
- Top Notes: salt, black pepper, white pepper, pink pepper
- Middle Notes: ambergris, iris
- Base Notes: cashmeran, sandalwood, musk, vetiver
I talked about this one in my Summer Vanillas list but it’s worth mentioning it again as I feel it is a great year-round fragrance that also shines in colder weather with its prominent cozy cashmeran note. This has a salty, musky, solar, ‘your skin but better’ kind of vibe. The ambergris also adds slightly to the saltiness and muskiness of the composition as well. There’s also a lightly powdery impression from the gorgeous iris. This is, by far, the least sweet fragrance in this list. If you want something that’s not even remotely sweet or sugary, this is the one for you!
The projection is pretty good here and I get a nice scent bubble all around me for at least 3-4 hours. I LOVE the 80’s-style bottle, it’s so simple, elegant, and classic. Another great deal, this fragrance is so inexpensive at the discounters; a gigantic 100ml bottle currently sells for around $35! There’s also a perfect-for-testing-out travel size for less than $10. There’s even a more masculine-geared men’s version! This underrated fragrance is so affordable and versatile that I think it’s worth having in anyone’s collection.

Honorable Mention: Estée Lauder Sensuous Nude
- Top Notes: pink pepper, pepper, mandarin orange, bergamot
- Middle Notes: coconut, white honey, jasmine, lily of the valley
- Base Notes: sandalwood, vanilla, musk, woodsy notes, heliotrope, amber
The opening of this fragrance actually reminds me a little of a less sweet/less girly version of Jimmy Choo Fever, mentioned above. As it starts to bloom, I get the orange and bergamot which give it a fresh citrus feel. The vanilla, jasmine, and heliotrope also enter the picture and I always love that sweet and pretty combo. As it dries down further, the pepper and sandalwood join in. It gets more and more powdery the longer it dries down and really gives me powdery makeup vibes. I would not call this a sweet fragrance, unlike many of the others mentioned in this list. It’s a powdery, clean skin scent that feels all-around cozy, warm, and soothing.
This flanker is an honorable mention as it’s no longer available but can sometimes be found from a random Mercari, Etsy, or eBay seller (links you can try below). I will say, the performance is not the greatest with this one so perhaps that’s why it was pulled? There’s really not much projection to speak of, it’s definitely a skin scent. And, unfortunately, I don’t get much more than a couple hours wear of it before it starts to disappear. The original Sensuous is still available and might be worth trying, as well, but do bear in mind that it is a completely different fragrance. It is also warm and cozy but has more emphasis on the honeyed, ambery, woodsy spices and less of a vanillic, musky, powdery vibe.

So there’s the list of my very favorite cozy ‘cashmere sweater’ perfumes! Do you love the idea of these kind of fragrances for these cooler months? Have you paired up any of these scents with a good cashmere sweater before? Please share your favorite warm fragrances that brighten up the darker wintry months of January and February in the comments section below, I’d love to hear all about your favorites! 🧖♀️🕯🛌
P.S. As briefly mentioned above, to amp up any of these fragrances, I might suggest layering them with shower gels and/or lotions in either Bath & Body Works’ popular Snowflakes & Cashmere or Vanilla Mocha Martini scents.

I am eating a dark chocolate covered pumpkin caramel from this cute local candy shop, and that is pretty much the perfect taste to go along with this post! I think I would like to get a sniff of all of these, since the only ones I’ve tried are Kenzo Amour and CK Reveal (all great!). I think I might have smelled Sensuous Nude, but I can’t remember if I am just thinking of the original. Will have to give it a try to find out!
I love cozy bed scents. My most worn to sleep this last year are Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black, Chanel n 5 EdP, L’Artisan Parfeumer Saffron Troublant, and Donna Karan Cashmere Mist Liquid Nude. I don’t know how you would find that last one, it is a musk-a-thon, but I really love it. I think my sweater scents would be Diptyque Tam Dao, Chanel Bois des Iles, and Trish McEvoy n.9 Blackberry & Vanilla Musk. I’ve pretty much gone through 20% of my bottle of that last one since I got it for my husband to give to me on Christmas. Am obsessed.
Happy New Year, and thanks for the fun post!!
Oh, yum! That caramel pumpkin treat sounds AMAZING 🤤
I think you would really like Sensuous Nude! It’s got that clean, powdery musk vibe. Sometimes you can find a mini like mine for a good deal on Mercari so worth keeping on the radar!
I’ve been actually really wanting to try the Cashmere Mist line. It’s one of her lines that I’m not yet familiar with and need to explore! Tam Dao is one of the best ever!! And Blackberry & Vanilla Musk sounds delish! I love blackberry fragrances. Have you tried Ferragamo Signorina Misteriosa yet? It smells just like a blackberry milkshake! I’m not sure if you would find it too sweet/gourmand but if you love blackberry scents, it’s worth trying, at least on a tester, if nothing else. The flanker Daisy Dream has lots of blackberry, too. 🖤
“I got it for my husband to give to me on Christmas” LOLOLOLOLOLOL 😂
