Hall’s Haul: Bath & Body Works Shower Gels – Summer 2021 Tropical Scents

Where my coconut lovers at? Today’s your day because I am going to chat all about Bath & Body Works’ current lineup of tropical/coconut shower gels. With summer officially starting in less than two weeks, it’s the perfect time to grab a tropical body wash or two for the season. I’ve tried all of BB&W’s current ‘tropical location’ shower gels and below I’ll give you my thoughts on each. Spoiler alert: they all smell amazing!

Bahamas Passionfruit & Banana Flower

This scent is SO yummy! It’s a sweet and fruity concoction of bananas, tropical fruit, and I think there’s also some strawberry in there. It reminds me exactly of Bananaberry Split Bubble Yum gum from when I was a child, lol It’s a happy, playful scent with a youthful feel.

This scent is a big love of mine! In fact, this is actually my second bottle of shower gel in this fragrance, purchased last year (hence the packaging looking different from the others). And I liked it so much, I also got the hand cream and a Wallflower home fragrance refill. If you love the smell of a fruit salad full of bananas and strawberries, I think you will really enjoy this scent.

Belize Tropical Cabana

• Notes: banana daiquiri, juicy pineapple, golden sands

YUM! Though coconut is not listed as a note, this warm, cozy scent is quite coconut-heavy. Very Hawaiian Tropic-esque. If you love the smell of traditional old school coconut suntan oil, this’ll definitely be your jam! It has a comforting, nostalgic vibe to it that I love.

Fiji Sunshine Guava-Tini

• Notes: sun-kissed guava, fresh orange, seaside jasmine
• Also available in: fine fragrance mist (also in travel size), ultra shea body cream (also in travel size), super smooth body lotion, hand cream

Mmmm… this is a lovely citrusy offering in this tropical collection. The orange and guava are so yummy together. It also reminds me a bit of starfuit, I kind of wonder if perhaps it’s an unlisted note? Despite the ‘Tini” part of the name, I don’t get any alcoholic vibes from this scent, it’s definitely rated G. 😊

Key West Coconut Water & Melon

• Notes: coconut water, saltwater waves, fresh melon
• Also available in: fine fragrance mist (also in travel size), ultra shea body cream (also in travel size), super smooth body lotion

This is the best choice out of the bunch for those who like their scents on the lighter side. It perfectly blends delicate, watery coconut with mixed melon. This is probably also the least sweet of this collection of scents as well, though it definitely still does have a sweetness to it. Overall, the fragrance feels very fresh and reminds me of a melon salad topped with dried coconut curls.

Oahu Coconut Sunset

• Notes: coconut blossom, sparkling bergamot, beach tuberose, Hawaiian monoi (gardenia petals soaked in coconut oil), molten amber
• Also available in: fine fragrance mist, ultra shea body cream, super smooth body lotion

Another very yummy, sweet coconutty summer scent. This smells exactly like sweet coconut candy. Though all of these scents are at least fairly sweet, this may be the sweetest of the bunch. It’s also the most floral with the included notes of tuberose and monoi. The amber gives it a warm and cozy feel that makes me think this would be a lovely autumnal scent as well. Perfect for those cold, rainy days when you’re missing summer and dreaming of a tropical getaway. This one is a strong love for me!

Waikiki Beach Coconut

• Notes: tropical white coconut, saltwater breezes, sun-bleached woods

This fragrance reminds me so much of the tropical flavors of Hi-Chew candy! It’s like the mango and kiwi flavors of that candy had a lovechild, lol The salt and wood notes are not super prominent to me but they are very lightly there. This is a signature scent of theirs and as you can see listed above, it comes available in pretty much every product that B&BW sells. So, for those who love to layer up their body wash, lotion, and body splash; this is a great scent for that.

I’ve got to also include a quick shout-out to one of my very favorite newer scents of theirs: Hibiscus Paradise. I first waxed poetic about this fragrance in my spring shower gel haul. I’ve since also purchased the hand soap for both myself and my Mom (who loves all things reminiscent of Hawaii) and I think I need to add the EDP to my collection as well (before it sells out!)

I find that coconut scents, especially, are one of their strong suits and I look forward to seeing what they’ll come out with each year in that genre.
