Hall’s Haul: Bath & Body Works Summer 2023 Shower Gels

Hey guys, happy late July! This summer is cruising by, as it always does. In my last blog post, I discussed B&BW hand soaps and today I’m reviewing my favorite Bath & Body Works summer 2023 shower gels! I’ve been stocking up the last few sales and have a bunch of great fragrances to share with you.

I love to sniff everything Bath & Body Works comes out with and there were a few that were new to me this year that I just fell in love with. If you’re looking for a new B&BW shower gel and wondering about some of these great scents, read on for my reviews and recommendations!

Among the Clouds

• Notes: wild berry skies, whipped vanilla clouds

Among the Clouds has a very ‘mixed berries and cream’ vibe. If you love the smell of sun-ripened berries and vanilla, this should be a pretty safe fragrance for you. I make sure to always keep a few fragrances in B&BW’s moisturizing body wash formulation on hand because I have very dry skin. This time around, I chose this fun scent for that soothing, lotiony pick. I liked this scent so well, I also snatched it up in hand soap (which I discuss here) and in B&BW’s Wallflowers home fragrance refill. It’s definitely a great summer-y choice!

Coco Paradise

• Notes: salted cocoa monoi (tiare flowers soaked in coconut oil), sugared neroli, bronzed sandalwood

This is probably my favorite out of all of these great scents. Coco Paradise is a warm and cozy coconutty fragrance with lots of solar vibes. It smells like sun-kissed skin that’s been baking on the beach with old school Hawaiian Tropic coconut suntan oil on. It’s such a comforting and happy scent that brings to mind childhood days at the beach.

Golden Hour Coast

• Notes: sun-kissed bergamot, golden pear, radiant woods

Golden Hour Coast smells like it could be a pear flanker from DKNY’s Be Delicious line with some added musk! In addition to the pear and musk, I get the citrusy bergamot, a nice sweetness, and a hint of something reminiscent of magnolia. After my shower, I smell lots of lingering clean musk on my skin. When I go back into my bathroom later, it smells like I was spraying one of the Be Delicious perfumes in there. I think it’s safe to say this shower gel would be perfect for layering with any of the Be Delicious perfumes. If you like the B&BW scents Pure Wonder, Magnolia Charm, and Pink Chiffon, chances are good that you’ll like this, too.

Golden Ocean Pearl

Notes: bergamot breeze, vanilla orchid, golden amber

This is another love for me! It contains the winning note combination of bergamot, vanilla, and cozy amber. This is the perfect base for sooo many popular fragrances. If you love Elie Saab’s super yummy-smelling Girl of Now perfume, you will love this, it smells so similar and would layer perfectly with it. I think it would also layer well with Dior’s Poison Girl and any of my favorite perfumes with that citrus/jasmine/vanilla combo I talk about in my blog post here.

Magnolia Charm

• Notes: dewy pear blossom, blooming magnolia, fresh cedar

Magnolia blossoms often bring springtime to mind and though this lovely fragrance does wear very well in the spring, I enjoy it in the summer, too. It has such a refreshing feeling with the fresh pear and magnolia. I also get a bit of a sparkling citrusy feel here. These fresh notes and impressions make it perfect for a hot, sunny day. This scent layers perfectly with Estée Lauder’s Beautiful Magnolia perfume and Philosophy’s lovely Amazing Grace Magnolia flanker. If you love magnolia scents, you’ll also want to look for B&BW’s Chasing Daydreams hand soap, which I talk about more here.

Poppy

• Notes: fresh morning dew, wild poppies, sugared rhubarb, juicy pear

This pretty, clean, fresh fragrance has a citrusy-floral vibe and really does smell like my idea of a poppy! Most all poppies have no real scent so in perfumery, they fall into the category known as a ‘fantasy note.’ There are many beautiful fragrances that showcase their interpretation of poppies and I think this shower gel would layer beautifully with any of them. Some of my favorites: Coach Poppy (sidenote: Oscar de la Renta Extraordinary is VERY similar), NEST Wild Poppy, Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy, and Floral Street’s London Poppy.

Sun Blooms & Suede

• Notes: white raspberry, pink petals, vanilla cream

Sun Blooms & Suede has a cozy, solar vibe. I sense amber/ambroxan, and jasmine, in addition to the vanilla and fruity vibes. I don’t know if I’d necessarily know it was raspberry but there’s definitely a fruity touch here. If you like B&BW’s Fairytale scent, this has a very similar feel – I would say this is a touch fresher and fruitier and Fairytale is a little deeper and more caramelized. This will layer perfectly with warm, ambery/ambroxan fragrances like super popular Baccarat Rouge 540.

Sun-Washed Citrus

• Notes: sugared lemons, mandarin, agave nectar

Fresh, slightly zingy, and on the sweet side, this fragrance smells like a combo of orange juice and a lemon drop. It reminds me a lot of B&BW’s Easter-time fave, Tutti Frutti Candy, which smells just like a bowl of jelly beans. This is very similar but as if it were a bowl of all LEMON jelly beans, lol! It leaves your skin smelling super clean with a light kiss of sweet citrus. A perfect choice for a hot summer day.
