Michel Design Works Spring Foaming Soap Trio Review

Is it spring yet?? Ok, how about now?? 😂 I think it’s safe to say that many of us are craving some warmer weather and blooming flowers to brighten our day! Lately, I’ve been slowly swapping out my more wintry perfumes, candles, body washes, lotions, and soaps for more ‘springy’ fragrances. Clean, floral fragrances are perfect for transitioning into a more springlike atmosphere around the home.

This sampler is perfect for spring

Luckily, my dear niece gifted me a foaming hand soap sampler for my birthday that is absolutely perfect for the types of scents I’ve been craving lately. I’ve been curious about this brand, too, so it really was perfect timing! Michel Design Works has been around since 1987, creating ‘attainable luxury’ home goods with a nod to vintage art. They are part of Maine’s Stonewall Kitchen brand, who you may know from their delicious sauces, jams, and baked good mixes.

If you love floral fragrances, these soaps should be right up your alley!

This sampler of their fine foaming soaps is chock full of fresh, clean floral fragrances and I’m loving all three of them. If you gravitate towards brands and fragrance houses that have a lot of ‘English garden’/floral-forward fragrances like Jo Malone, Goutal Paris, or AERIN, you should definitely check these soaps out! (Bonus: these soaps also make a classy Mother’s Day gift!)

Cotton & Linen

  • Notes: ‘fresh air,’ clean cotton, birch leaf, violet
Crisp & fresh

Cotton & Linen delivers exactly what you would expect from its name. It’s crisp, fresh, and reminiscent of clean laundry drying on the clothes line. I also get a subtle kiss of citrus/lemon here. It has a preppy, refreshing, minimalistic vibe. If you enjoy scents like Yankee Candle’s Clean Cotton, you will probably love this.

Magnolia Petals

  • Notes: magnolia, green leaves, honeysuckle, citrus
Light and blossomy

Magnolia is one of my favorite floral scents and they’ve done a lovely job of recreating it here. This is a gentle, light floral that reminds me of trees and flowers just starting to blossom in early spring. There’s a light touch of honeysuckle and that soft, citrusy blossom vibe that magnolia has. If you love magnolia fragrances such as Philosophy Amazing Grace Magnolia and Estée Lauder Beautiful Magnolia, you’ll definitely want to give this one a sniff.

Wild Hydrangea

  • Notes: hydrangea, meadow flowers, amber, patchouli
Warm, rich florals

While the Magnolia Petals scent mentioned above is more gentle, Wild Hydrangea is deeper in feel and smells like a rich garden in full bloom. Though many actual hydrangeas have no real scent, some do smell similar to honeysuckle and I really get that here. There is a warm, honeyed vibe here as if spring blossoms and warm amber were combined. If you are sensitive to patchouli (and I definitely can be!), I don’t think you need to be too afraid of it here; I really don’t detect it. This is beautiful and smells like a rich bouquet of sweet, honeyed flowers.
