Happy mid-June! It’s almost summer but you’d never know it here in the rainy Pacific NW where we seem to be stuck in the mid-60’s. Mind you, I am NOT complaining! I love cooler weather and around this time last year, we had consecutive 100+ degree days that were absolutely miserable! I know plenty of you around the southwestern US are experiencing a crazy heatwave this week and my heart sincerely goes out to you. May you be able to find relief and hopefully all will return to more comfortable temps ASAP.
Today I’m launching my Summer 2022 Perfume Series with a detailed list of the best coconut perfumes. Each one has its own unique twist and I think there’s something for everyone here (unless you despise coconut outright!) I personally love the smell of coconut and am instantly intrigued any time a fragrance lists it as a note.
Read on for my picks for summer 2022’s best coconut fragrances:
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess (Eau Fraîche Skinscent)
- Top Notes: juicy mandarin, Sicilian bergamot, lemon, pulpy orange
- Middle Notes: tiare flower, jasmine, magnolia petals, orange flower buds, lavender
- Base Notes: amber, coconut milk, sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver, myrrh
I’m starting the list with a classic: Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess. This perfume is the quintessential vacation fragrance with tons of coconutty classic suntan lotion vibes. From the moment you spray it on, you get the delicious coconut note, along with some fresh citrus. As it dries down, the exotic tiare flower, jasmine, and magnolia add a beautiful tropical floral touch. Further into the dry down, the cozy amber, vanilla, and sandalwood base notes provide some lasting power.
I am featuring the eau fraîche concentration here, which has a bit of a lighter feel and less longevity than the EDP. The EDP is also a bit deeper in feel with some musk and the rich vanilla bourbon and jasmine sambac notes. Both are nice, I think this concentration is perfect for a hot summer day with its lighter feel, whereas I’d probably reach for the EDP in the cooler autumn and winter months to whisk me away to a summertime feel on a grey day. Estée Lauder also regularly releases seasonal and limited run fragrances, it’s worth checking out their website here to see what’s new in the line.
Considering this is a lighter eau fraîche concentration, it actually lasts pretty well; I get a decent 2-3 hours of wear before it fades to a light skin scent for a few more hours. Launched in the mid-2000’s, the fragrance is a popular favorite that almost everyone likes, and I think it’s a very safe buy for coconut lovers. This popular line also offers all sorts of bronzers, face & body gloss, and shimmering oil spray so you can layer products and surround yourself with this sunshiny collection.

Floral Street Arizona Bloom
- Notes: Balinese coconut, jasmine petals, salted musks, Madagascan black pepper, oak moss, fig leaves, cashmere woods
- Other Notes Perceived: amber, ambroxan
This enjoyable offering from Floral Street is a totally different take on the coconut genre. The two main players here are the coconut, of course, and the musk. The musk here is the clean ambroxan kind, that gives that sort of ‘your skin but better’ impression. I also get a beachy, salt water vibe. I love wearing this out for a walk on a warm day. When you perspire a bit in the sunshine, the whole fragrance just comes alive.
The musk helps this fragrance to be VERY long-lasting. Once I spray it on, I am good to go for the entire day and can even smell it lightly on my skin the next morning! It also lasts forever on clothes. The projection is great, too. This scent is not flowery at all and I consider it to be unisex. This salty, musky, coconut concoction is substantial, fabulous, and brings all the fun summertime feels.

Victoria’s Secret Coconut Passion
- Notes: vanilla, coconut, lily-of-the-valley, chamomile, aloe vera
This ‘cheap & cheerful’ fragrance mist has been a vacation/holiday go-to staple of mine for years. It has a nice, lightly sweet vanillic coconut feel with a little bit of an ambery touch. Along with Bronze Goddess, I would put this in the category of classic coconut ‘suntan lotion’ scents. When I was younger, I would always pack this when I’d go to Vegas so it will forever remind me of laying around a resort pool there.
For a body splash, this has surprisingly decent projection and longevity. If you plan to wear it all day, you’ll probably need to reapply at some point but once you do, you’ll get a good 2-3 hours of wear each time. Because this is considered a ‘classic scent,’ it can be a little hit or miss to find at Victoria’s Secret. They do currently have it on Amazon, which I will link to below. VS does currently have the lotion available, though, which is great for layering and enhancing the projection and longevity even more. I think this is a great bang for your buck if you’re looking for a fun coconut body spray for the beach or poolside.

Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Garden
- Top Notes: juicy mandarin, neroli, magnolia
- Middle Notes: coconut essence, frangipani petals
- Base Notes: almond milk, vanilla absolute, sandalwood, frangipani
- Other Notes Perceived: ylang-ylang
This warm and cozy scent takes coconut into a bit of a different direction than the other ones listed here. With the included almond milk note, it has quite a gourmand feel and reminds me of an almond/coconut/vanilla biscuit. It’s a linear scent that stays at that gourmand cookie/biscuit feel throughout wearing. I’ve always found it odd that this flanker was named ‘Garden’ as that would imply a super floral fragrance and this is absolutely not that vibe at all, lol
With the warm, cozy, yummy vibes here, this is a great year-round fragrance that works just as well in the cooler months as it does in the spring and summer. This high quality fragrance lasts very well and has good projection. The full bottle is also adorable with a cute cap that looks like a flower. This scent often seems to be discounted, as well. If you like the cozy impressions of being wrapped up in a soft blankie, sipping a vanilla-almond latte made with steamed coconut milk, this is a good one to try.

Kayali Utopia Vanilla Coco 21
- Top Notes: honeysuckle, pear blossom, Italian lemon, coconut
- Middle Notes: jasmine, gardenia, tuberose, ambrette
- Base Notes: sandalwood, patchouli heart, vanilla bourbon, musks
This delicious, sweet, coconut-vanilla blend was an instant love for me. It’s a decadent combo of bourbon vanilla, coconut, and tropical flowers. It’s very lightly powdery but not in an old fashioned way. The longer this dries down, the woodsy sandalwood and patchouli base notes shine and give this a nice little extra oompf. Also, the vanilla bourbon becomes deeper and more cozy. I also get a bit of a coconut sunscreen vibe, which I like. I really love this fragrance through all of its stages!
Though this is marketed as an EDP intense, I find it to perform more like an EDT. The projection is lightly moderate and not overpowering. I get a pretty little scent bubble around me for the first hour or so before it fades to a skin scent. The longevity is ok, I get about 2 hours before feeling the need to reapply. This does come in a handy travel-size that’s perfect for carrying around in a small purse or pocket for reapplication. It also layers beautifully with their Vanilla 28 fragrance if you’d like to add an extra little punch of rich, ambery vanilla. This is a great pick for an evening coconut fragrance. If you love the idea of sweet coconut combined with a deep, ambery vanilla, I don’t think you can really go wrong with this.

Skylar Coconut Cove
- Top Notes: bergamot, cardamom, hibiscus nectar, twist of lemon
- Middle Notes: coconut, jasmine petal, gardenia, lush greens
- Base Notes: ambrox, coastal woods, heliotrope, vanilla orchid
This pretty fragrance is a great choice for anyone looking for a lighter, more intimate coconut scent and/or a clean, natural fragrance. It combines a delicious, pulpy coconut milk feel with exotic tropical flowers. The ambroxan note gives it a musky nuance but it’s not quite as musky as the Arizona Bloom mentioned above. The heliotrope lends its signature almondy/vanillic touch. Overall, it’s lightly sweet and just really quite pretty.
As is often the case with the more natural scents, this one is more intimate and does not really project much. But that can absolutely be a positive for folks who don’t care for strong scents and/or wish to wear their fragrance in closer quarters, such as an office or restaurant. The longevity is pretty good here, I get a solid 5 hours of wear before it really fades out. That musky ambroxan note really helps fragrances to last. This feminine-leaning perfume would make a perfect date night scent as it’s very pretty while not being overpowering as to conflict with your enjoyment of a meal.

Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal
- Top Note: mandarin oils
- Middle Notes: white iris, ylang-ylang essence
- Base Notes: Madagascan bourbon vanilla, sunny coconut accord
- Other Notes Perceived: patchouli (oh, it’s definitely there, lol), pink pepper, bergamot, orange blossom, jasmine
I was really excited when I first heard about this flanker! The classic La Vie Est Belle DNA + a touch of coconut sounded like a winner to me and it is! Soleil Cristal translates to ‘Crystal Sun,’ which is a perfect descriptor for this fun-loving summertime fragrance. The opening is sweet and soft and I get plenty of mandarin orange right away combined with a light coconut feel. The solar note (referred to as ‘sunny coconut accord’ here) lends a cozy feel, reminiscent of the feeling of sun bathing. As with the original LVEB, there’s a powdery vibe from the iris and you will definitely get the patchouli as well. Lots of vanilla as well but the iris and patchouli keep this out of a sweet/gourmand category, in my opinion.
As this fragrance dries down, it becomes more and more similar to the original LVEB until it completely resembles it. The coconut vibes last a good 45 minutes before it dries down to smell exactly like original LVEB. As with the original, this has great projection and lasts a long time. I think if you already love the original La Vie Est Belle and also enjoy a summery coconut note, this should be a great find for you.

Arquiste Vacation
- Top Notes: petitgrain essence, coconut water, coconut milk
- Middle Notes: bergamot, solar musk, banana, pineapple
- Base Notes: pool water, swimsuit lycra, pool toys, sea salt
Ok guys, this one is just pure, nostalgic fun! One look at Vacation’s 80’s throwback ad campaign with their fantasy notes of pool water, swimsuit Lycra, and pool toys, and you know you’re in for a fun adventure with this one! I love the playful summertime feel here and that they don’t take themselves too seriously. I do truly get a whiff of plastic pool toys and Lycra in the first few minutes of the opening and I can’t help but grin at this faithful recreation of childhood swimming pool memories. The plasticky impressions give way to a very accurate coconut sunscreen portrayal, along with fruity hints of banana and pineapple.
The entire website is a playful ode to the 80’s, including the layout, fonts, and general aesthetic. Everything is a bit tongue-in-cheek as they faithfully recreate everything in true over-the-top, decadent 80’s fashion. They also carry all sorts of other 80’s inspired gear, including sunscreen (natch), dessert-inspired lip balm, and fun candles that recreate 80’s luxury hotel vibes. If nothing else, it is worth a visit to their website for a giggle.
This fragrance is an EDT so wears a bit on the lighter side. As the intention here is to wear this poolside in the summer heat, a lighter concentration is actually the best idea so as to not become too cloying or heavy. Out of the sunscreen-esque fragrances I’ve featured here, the is the ‘sunscreeny-est,’ lol If you’re looking for true 80’s sunscreen nostalgia, this is the one!

HONORABLE MENTIONS
The next two fragrances are listed only as honorable mentions because, sadly, both appear to have been discontinued. I’m going to discuss them anyway because there’s always a chance that they could come back or be a lucky find at a discounter 🤞
HONORABLE MENTION – Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Coconut Fizz (discontinued)
- Top Notes: bergamot
- Middle Notes: coconut, coconut water, bergamot
- Base Notes: tonka bean, sandalwood
- Other Notes Perceived: coconut nectar, water fruit, freesia
This light and airy fragrance was a love at first sniff for me! A light but lovely coconut fragrance that really shines in super hot weather. It has more of coconut water feel that’s very refreshing on an extra hot day. It’s as if you’ve doused yourself in fresh coconut water. There’s also light touches of bergamot (Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria line is known for its invigorating, often citrus-leaning fragrances) and tropical-esque florals.
This has a lighter touch, as is to be expected with an EDT. But once again, that is appropriate for a fragrance meant to be worn on an extremely warm day. I get a good 2-3 hours of wear before thinking about reapplication. I am not sure why Guerlain has chosen to discontinue this extremely popular fragrance that was only just launched in 2019. I’ve seen many folks in the fragrance community missing it already so I am hopeful that they may bring it back at some point. It’s an ideal choice for folks that like a lighter, airier scent but still want that touch of tropical coconut.

You can also try your luck with Mercari or eBay. If you go this route, please be sure to look for reputable sellers!
UPDATE – Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Coconut Fizz alternative/dupe!
Guys! I have recently discovered a perfume with a really similar vibe to Coconut Fizz! Van Cleef & Arpels’ Santal Blanc smells REALLY similar to me! It has the same clean, airy sandalwood and tonka base and a fig nectar that’s reminiscent of the coconut nectar here. Definitely worth a try if you’re missing Coconut Fizz!

HONORABLE MENTION – DKNY Be Delicious Coconuts About Summer (limited edition seasonal-discontinued)
- Top Note: coconut nectar
- Middle Note: magnolia
- Base Note: white musk
- Other Notes Perceived: apple
In a similar family with Guerlain’s Coconut Fizz in that they’re both lighter, very airy, refreshing coconut scents. This one goes more fruity with the signature Be Delicious apple undertones and also more floral with lots of magnolia. I would say the magnolia equally shares the stage with coconut here. But that’s not a bad thing; I love magnolia and besides, I wouldn’t want it to be identical to my other coconut perfumes.
This has similar performance to the Guerlain; intimate projection and lasts well for the first couple of hours and then fades to a lighter skin scent, typical for an EDT. DKNY purposely releases these annual seasonal fragrances from their Be Delicious line as limited edition (as they also do with their other seasonal summer line). So while it’s not exactly a surprise that this one is no longer available, it is kind of a bummer since it was only released just last year. But it does make it a special treat for those who love to collect each new one that comes out every year. This year’s release, Guava Goddess, sounds very intriguing! It doesn’t appear to be available for purchase in the US yet, but I will add the link here as soon as it is.

So that’s my list of the best coconut scents out there! It’s pretty comprehensive but what did I miss? There’s Bobbi Brown Beach which is often said to be very reminiscent of Coppertone Water Babies sunscreen, but that’s not really a coconutty vibe. Do you love coconut-scented perfumes? Which one’s your fave? Tell me what you think about coconut perfumes! 🥥

Big Bronze Goddess fan here, and need to try the Coconut Cove and Victoria’s Secret options. Also intrigued by this Guava Goddess business. I like a milky coconut more than a foody coconut I think.
Loving the little deer in the coconut husk. Loving all the pics as usual! They are really so cheerful and engaging.
Speaking of Vegas, am dreaming about a long weekend there just to get some warmer weather in my life. This whole muggy cool dreary late spring thing is a disappointment. And now I am reminding myself not to complain when (if…) it does get warm, haha.
Oooh yes, I think you will really like Coconut Cove. It’s SO good! And VS Coconut Passion is such a classic! I can’t wait to try Guava Goddess, those DKNY ones are usually pretty affordable 👍
Yay! Thank you! 💖 I was so happy to find a good permanent prop for when there’s a coconut note in something but coconuts aren’t in season, lol
I haven’t been to Vegas in a few years. I love going and laying by the pool and doing nothing, lol But planes…UGH.
Lol, right?? I REALLY hope we don’t get near 100 this year!
