Hall’s Haul: Bath & Body Works Autumn 2021 Shower Gels, Part I – Non-Pumpkin Fragrances

We’re full-swing into fall and already halfway through October! This time of the year always zooms by so quickly. I swear, if you so much as blink in October, next thing you know it’s already January! I always try to make the most of it during this fun time of the year, including sniffing out some of the best autumnal fragrances!

So many great fragrances, I had to write two posts!

There were so many good-looking options for shower gels this fall at Bath & Body Works that I’ve had to create TWO separate posts worth of content! Since about half of them were pumpkin-related, I’ve lumped all of those into tomorrow’s post. Today, I’ll be chatting about everything else.

Some of Bath & Body Work’s non-pumpkin fall 2021 offerings

Fairytale

  • Notes: pomegranate nectar, fresh orange blossom, vanilla, warm amber
  • This Fragrance Also Available In: regular & travel-sized fine fragrance mist, super smooth body lotion, regular & travel-sized ultimate hydration body cream, single-wick candle, 3-wick candle, moisturizing body wash, diamond shimmer mist, 50ml eau de parfum, 7ml mini perfume spray, creamy body scrub, whipped glow-tion, Wallflowers home fragrance, and purse-sized hand cream
Super cozy scent!

Fairytale is a lovely, woodsy, sweet caramel-amber fragrance. I’m actually surprised there’s no wood notes listed, it has a bit of a woodsy/mossy vibe when lathering up in the shower. The scent left on the skin after the shower is sweeter and less woodsy, with a very cozy and slightly sweet caramel/sparkly amber feel. It’s a touch sophisticated and smells more expensive than a typical run-of-the-mill shower gel. In fact, it even slightly reminded me of a favorite perfume, the popular (and pricey!) Baccarat Rouge 540. They’re not dupes or anything but it did slightly suggest the feel of BR540 to me.

Caramel + fruity goodness

Overall, Fairytale was a huge hit for me and I liked it so well, I decided to get a travel-spray of the perfume, as well. The perfume is fruitier than the shower gel, with the pomegranate note being more prominent. But it still has lots of delicious caramel and amber. It also has a clean, almost soapy vibe, too. Again, it’s no exact BR540 dupe but I quite enjoy it and for only $13.50 for a travel-spray, it’s well worth it if you enjoy warm, sweet, fruity fragrances.

Pink Velvet Cupcake

  • Notes: sparkling red berries, whipped pink marshmallow, sugared praline
  • This Fragrance Also Available In: fine fragrance mist, super smooth body lotion, and ultimate hydration body cream
Despite all the listed sugary notes, this one felt more like a red berry fragrance to me

At first I felt a little silly purchasing both Pink Velvet Cupcake and Pinkberry Clouds at the same time. I was worried they might be too similar but this really turned out to be more of a red berries fragrance than a sugary sweet cupcake one. It reminds me of their cranberry and pomegranate type fragrances. In my opinion, it really doesn’t have a sugary gourmand/marshmallow/cupcake/cake/frosting vibe at all. Look to Pinkberry Clouds (next fragrance) if you’re wanting that type pf super sweet sugary gourmand. Try this one if you’re a red berries lover. One thing I will mention: if you already have Winterberry Wonder or Forever Red from previous B&BW lines, you probably don’t really need this one, too, as they’re all pretty similar.

Didn’t exactly scream ‘cupcake’ to me, but I still liked it!

Pinkberry Clouds

  • Notes: strawberry spun sugar, marshmallow fluff, fresh air
  • This Fragrance Also Available In: fine fragrance mist, super smooth body lotion, regular & travel-sized ultimate hydration body cream, creamy body scrub, and cleansing body mousse
Now, this one is SWEET!

YUM, oh yum!!!! You better have a real sweet tooth for this one! This is a magical strawberry cotton candy treat. It literally smells like the main notes listed: strawberry cotton candy and marshmallow. A must for those who love sugary sweet gourmands. Also, almost an exact dead-ringer for their summertime Boardwalk Taffy scent so if you were bummed when that was discontinued (as I was), here is your replacement!

If you love marshamallowy sweets, this one is for you!

Autumn Violets

  • Notes: violet petals, wild fig, velvet vines
  • This Fragrance Also Available In: ultimate hydration body cream
This was more pear than violets to me

Although I love this, to me it smells nothing like any of the listed notes! It’s 100% fresh pear! It’s a super realistic pear, too. It reminds me of a delicious pear gelato that I love from local restaurant Tutta Bella. Yummy but not sugary sweet. If you’re really looking for a true fig fragrance, try their Brown Sugar & Fig – it’s a retired scent but they sometimes bring it back so it pays to be on the look out if it sounds like an interesting fragrance to you.

Fresh and fruity fall feel (say that 5 times fast!)

Honey Wildflower

  • Notes: crisp pear, fresh wildflowers, honey
  • This Fragrance Also Available In: fine fragrance mist, super smooth body lotion, ultimate hydration body cream, single-wick candle, 3-wick candle, shower gel, 50ml eau de parfum, 7ml fragrance oil rollerball, honey body scrub, honey body butter, and Wallflowers home fragrance
A lovely, mild scent

Now the funny thing is, this fragrance DOES have a pear note, yet it doesn’t stand out to me in this fragrance at all! This is a nice blend of honey and flowers with a very light and easy going feeling. A great scent for when you don’t want your body wash to compete with the perfume you’re planning to wear. Mild and inoffensive. No notes really stand out, it’s just a mellow, pleasant floral accord, lightly sweetened with a touch of honey. Though I purchased this fragrance in the fall, it has a decidedly springtime feel to me. It’s so mild and likable, I definitely think it can be enjoyed year-round.

This moisturizing body wash is perfect for cooler weather’s dry skin

Side note: some of the B&BW fragrances come in this creamy, moisturizing body wash formula. I always try to keep at least one of this kind of body wash on hand year-round because I have super dry skin. But ESPECIALLY during the cooler weather months, it’s a life-saver. If you’re also constantly trying to hydrate your dry skin, you’ll appreciate this creamier, soothing, lotion-y type of body wash.

Wicked Vanilla Woods

  • Notes: magical vanilla, glowing amberwood, enchanted pink pepper
  • This Fragrance Also Available In: fine fragrance mist, ultimate hydration body cream
Dang, this one sold out fast!!

This is a very cozy, ambery vanilla with a touch of sweet musk. Very rich and golden feeling. If you loved their Sunset Glow fragrance over the summer, this is like an autumnal version of that. I only get some slight muskiness while lathering up in the shower, it does not last after drying off. I’m left with a lovely, lightly woodsy, warm amber-vanilla scent on my skin.

Spooky vanilla-amber goodness!

One word of warning, this scent always seems to sell out super quickly on B&BW’s website. Last year, it was completely sold out with 2 and half weeks still to go until Halloween. I’m linking to Amazon below, for a more reliable place to find it.
